When the rug is pulled from right under your feet////
When the deal goes sour at the last hour////
With illogical gratitude, give thanks///
God’s still at work!/////
Land owners pulled the deal off the table////
Land creator pushed a better deal our way////
Lavishing us with blessings beyond our wildest dream!

Scales falling off
Any debris I might have brought forward from the previous day’s ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ episode was blown to smithereens yesterday. Whoa!
I didn’t even need to engage in deep conversations to realize how badly and urgetly we need to step out and point people to the only One who can offer true relief, healing and direction.
Don’t get me wrong. I got my own stuff (... heavy-duty, sometimes). Difference is, I know the Doctor that heals my pains, binds my wounds, wipes my tears and forgives my sins. Not only is my Resident Doc on call 24/7, He picks up the tab, every time!
When He’s done sorting me out, He cheers me and sends me off to work, play and make a difference... ilike!
Yesterday’s conversations leave me asking the Father (the loving Doctor) to kindly send labourer’s our way.

Hail the Blessed Finality of a Burnt Bridge!
As it will inevitably happen, when you put your hands to the plough to embark on any worth-while undertaking, dissonance and its relatives are bound to come looking for you. Well, they paid me a discourteous call today... and... in a moment of pure, unadulterated foolishness, I entertained them. Big mistake!
In hindsight, I see the wisdom in Elisha’s act of burning his yoke and oxen to follow Elijah. Elisha gave up an obscure career to pursue a Call of eternal value.
I joined internship with a measure of the persuasion and expectancy that Moses must have had as he faced Pharaoh, knowing full well that if he’d misheard the Call or if the Lord did not come through he would be eternally sank. This conviction must have kept Moses afloat when the wandering Jews longingly and stubbornly desired the leeks and garlic of Egypt.
No backward glances! Lord, help me keep my eyes on You – to spread your matchless love to a world in dire need. With this in mind, how can you, oh my soul, remain downcast?

Mountain-turned-Monument
Now that mysterious abduction of Kelly has been resolved, in part (the six year old was re-united with her parents on Monday, justice to follow), the matter is now in the public domain and I safely pen down lessons that leapt out for me:
(a) Besides the abductors, the biggest and hardest-hit loser in this torturous saga was the Father of lies himself, the devil! He threw a mountain of trouble in our path and Christ’s church responded prayerfully (accompanied by lots of activity) in faith, and God moved the mountain. This episode will be etched in my memory (I’m sure in the hearts and minds of many others too) as a monument that speaks of God’s faithfulness. Indeed His ear is not heavy that He cannot hear our cries. He hears, He cares, and moves on our behalf.
(b) A Romans 8:28 Moment: As the week-long torture comes to an end, there is a very real chance that the network of abductors will be brought to book. This will bring the activities of these architects of terror to a much deserved end. Yes, what the devil meant for evil God turned around for good of society.
(c) A renewed audacity to trust God when all odds seem to be against me. God still has the final move. Yes, it ain’t over till He says it’s over!
